Central Hobbies is located in east Vancouver.

From Down Town |
Transit is a good choice. See From Down Town by Transit
otherwise find Georgia Street and head east.
Exit the Georgia Viaduct south to Main Street. Turn left (east) at Terminal Avenue and
follow Terminal Avenue until it becomes First Avenue.
Follow First Avenue until you reach Renfrew street.
Turn right (south) onto Renfrew street and follow it south past Broadway, across the train tracks
(BNSF line to Vancouver) to Grandview Highway. Turn right (west) on Grandview Highway and
look for parking.
We are a half block west of Renfrew Street on the north side of Grandview
Highway. |
From UBC, Kitsilano, Point Grey and the western part of
Vancouver |
There are three main routes: |
12th Avenue |
If you are near 12th Avenue (or 10th ) follow it east until it becomes Grandview
Highway.
After you cross Nanaimo Street start looking for Kaslo (2nd light past Nanaimo). Turn left at the
Kaslo light (RONA is on your left), cross the railway tracks (BNSF line to Vancouver) then look
for a right turn to get you across to Renfrew.
One block ahead turn right on to Renfrew Street, cross the tracks again then turn right onto
Grandview Highway. Look for parking. We are a half block west of Renfrew Street on the
north side of Grandview Highway.
If you miss the tun onto Kaslo you can turn left at Renfrew and circle right through the
McDonalds parking lot to get to Grandview Highway. |
41 st Avenue |
Head east on 41 Avenue until you reach Rupert Street. Turn left (north) onto Rupert
Street.
Eventually after going down hill under the Sky Train, then up hill again, you will head down a
steep hill to the Grandview Highway intersection. (There is a Trail Appliances on the North East
Corner and a Great Canadian Superstore on the North West Corner). Turn left (west) onto
Grandview Highway.
We are one traffic light ahead (Renfrew Street), a half block past the light on the right hand
side (north side) of the street. |
South Vancouver |
Either head south to Marine Drive and follow the directions for from the
south or head north to 41 Avenue and follow those directions. |
From the South |
From the Victoria Ferry |
Follow the signs to Highway 99 North.
A few miles after passing through the Dease Island Tunnel you will be given a choice of heading
north via Knight Street or Oak Street. Then . . . (see next section) |
From Richmond and White Rock |
Head north via Knight Street or Oak Street. Either will do but Knight Street will
bypass some of the traffic.
In either case exit to Marine Drive East.
Then follow Marine Drive east to Kerr.
Head north on Kerr. As you head north on Kerr the name will change to Rupert Street.
Eventually after going up hill, then down hill under the Sky Train, then up hill again, you will
head down a steeper hill to the Grandview Highway intersection. (There is a Trail Appliances on
the North East Corner and a Great Canadian Superstore on the North West Corner). Turn left
(west) onto Grandview Highway.
We are one traffic light ahead (Renfrew Street), a half block past the light on the right hand
side (north side) of the street. |
From Surrey |
The best way is to get on Highway 1 (Trans Canada Highway) and follow the
directions for coming from the east. |
From the East |
If you are in Surrey you can drive or take the SkyTrain.
If you are coming from further East or wish to drive from Surrey:
The best way to drive to Central Hobbies from the east is to use Highway 1 (Trans
Canada Highway).
Head west on Highway 1 (Trans Canada Highway) and exit at the Grandview Highway exit. We
are three traffic lights ahead (the first light is Boundary Road, the second light is Rupert Street,
the third light is Renfrew Street). We are a half block west of the light on the right hand side of
the road.
If you wish to take the Sky Train.
With the new Millennium line in service you have several ways to get to us by Skytrain.
The Scenic Way (Long) Catch any SkyTrain West and get off at The Columbia
Station in New Westminster (the first station after the Fraser River Bridge). Change to a
Milenium Line SkyTrain heading to the Commercial Drive station. Ride through New
Westminster, Burnaby, Vancouver and get off at the Renfrew Station. Exit the station on to
Renfrew street, turn right and walk across the Railway tracks to Grandview Highway, turn right
and we are a half block ahead on your right.
The Fast Way Catch any West bound SkyTrain and get off at the Broadway
Station. From there walk over to the Commercial drive Station on the new Millennium Line.
Take any train east and get off at the Renfrew Station. Exit the station on to Renfrew street, turn
right and walk across the Railway tracks to Grandview Highway, turn right and we are a half
block ahead on your right.
Alternate route Get off the Sky Train at the 29th Avenue Station.
Catch a #16 bus down the hill. Ask the driver to let you off at Grandview Highway.
The bus will let you off on the east side of Renfrew Street a half block south of Grandview
Highway. Cross Grandview to the north side of the street and then cross Renfrew to the west side
of the street (or the other way around, which ever way the traffic lights favour you when you get
to them).
We are a half block west of Renfrew on the north side of Grandview Highway.

From the North |
If you are coming from North Vancouver, West Vancouver, from the Squamish
Valley or from the Horseshoe Bay ferry, head east on Highway 1 (Trans Canada Highway).
Cross the Second Narrows bridge and exit at the Boundary Road exit. Head south on Boundary
Road (stay in the right hand lane) and turn right at Grandview Highway. We are two traffic lights
ahead; the first light is Rupert Street, the second light is Renfrew Street. We are a half block west
of Renfrew.

From Down Town by Transit |
Take the Sky Train.
With the new Millennium line in service you have several ways to get to us by Skytrain.

Scenic ride through Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, back to Burnaby, back to
Vancouver and get off at the Renfrew Station. Exit the station on to Renfrew street, turn right
and walk across the Railway tracks to Grandview Highway, turn right and we are a half block
ahead on your right.
The Fast Way Catch any east bound Skytrain and get off at the Broadway
Station. From there walk over to the Commercial drive Station on the new Millennium Line.
Take any train east and get off at the Renfrew Station. Exit the station on to Renfrew street, turn
right and walk across the Railway tracks to Grandview Highway, turn right and we are a half
block ahead on your right.
Alternate route if you miss the Broadway Station Get off the Sky Train at the
29th Avenue Station.
Catch a #16 bus down the hill. Ask the driver to let you off at Grandview Highway.
The bus will let you off on the east side of Renfrew Street a half block south of Grandview

From the USA |
When coming from the USA you have a choice of several border crossings.
If you are traveling north on I5 you can use the truck crossing (generally not as busy as the Peace
Arch Crossing) or the Peace Arch Crossing. |

After clearing Canada Customs head north on 176 Street(Highway 15) to Highway
1. Head west on Highway 1. Follow the directions for coming From The
East. |

After clearing Canada Customs head north on Highway 99.

Behind Central Hobbies is the BNSF mainline to Vancouver.
On this line you will see:
The Amtrak Talgo train is running again It runs from Seattle to Vancouver and back. It
passes by the store in the morning about 11:15+ and the return trip to Seattle in the evening
passes about 6:05 PM)

various combinations of motive power; anything from a pair of switchers to the latest
motive power in any of the current or heritage paint schemes.
Canadian National trains to and from downtown Vancouver with various different

The Rocky Mountaineer (in season).
Special trains: Railgrinders, MOW trains, Business specials, etc. . .
